Osinachi Nwachukwu’s elder sister, Ms Favour Made, speaks at length about her late sister’s death. Favour refuted that the claim that her sister died of cancer, noting that her husband, Mr Peter Nwachukwu, was the cause of her death.
“Before now, we had told her to come out of the marriage, we told her they were not divorcing, and that it was just separation. Because she felt that God’s against divorce. We told her that separation was not a sin; but just for her to stay alive and take care of her children. She will always tell us to relax that the man will change.
So when he kicked her on the chest, she fell down and he took her to the hospital. It was even a friend that lives in Ebonyi that called Osinachi’s twin sister to tell her Osinachi’s on admission. The man did not even tell the doctor what happened because if he had, the doctor would have known what to do. When my brother asked the doctor what killed my sister, he said there were clusters of blood on her chest. Each time we talked to her, she will be pleading for peace.
My younger brother who had gone to see the four children said, contrary to the rumour going round, Mr Nwachukwu has not been arrested. He is still in his house in Abuja. He is even boasting. Before now, he told Osinachi’s twin sister that he’s going to separate her and her sister. Osinachi has never visited our village, Isuochi, since she married him. It was only in 2017 when our father died.
Even when her twin sister visited her in her sickbed, he did not allow her to stay with Osinachi. When Osinachi begged him that she was passing through severe heart pains and he refused, she told her twin sister to leave.
He is from Nnewi, Anambra state and doesn’t have any known job to me. He acts like my sister’s manager. If she is booked for a show, the money charged for the program is paid into his account. He is the one that negotiates for programs and all monies are paid into his account.
From there, he will now give my sister little or nothing. That’s somebody God’s lifted up. And whenever she has a program iñ Enugu, her flight is booked back to Abuja the same day. So she doesn’t even visit home. My mother only sàw her grandchildren during our father’s burial.
When my sister died, he did not tell us, we heard it from other people. When we called, he did not pick. It was around 8pm that he called my brother and told him casually that his sister had died. This was someone that died in the afternoon. When he called my mom to tell her, she asked him if he had fulfilled his promise of killing her, he just çut the call on her.
He feels we have no one to fight for us because our first son died before our father and our only brother is the last child and only 30 years.
