Salinas Police Department Officer Jorge David Alvarado pulled over a car about 10:45 p.m. on Friday in the area of Market Street and Griffin Street and the traffic stop turned into a shootout, said Miguel Cabrera, a spokesperson for the police department.
David Alvarado Death Cause
At a news gathering with a few authorities Saturday, Salinas Police Chief Roberto Filice said Alvarado’s activities during the showdown assisted them with capturing the suspect. Filice gave no different subtleties on the suspect for sure prompted the shootout.
“The official remained in the battle the whole way to the end. Eventually, he took care of it. He gave his life for it,” Filice said.
“The police division lost a child however the local area lost a legend,” he added.
Five Year Veteran of the Department
Alvarado, 30, was a five-year veteran of the office. He was the primary cop killed in the line of obligation in almost 80 years in Salinas, Salinas Mayor Kimbley Craig said.
“Our people group and our police office are crushed,” Craig said.
The Monterey County District Attorney’s Office has opened an examination on the grounds that the case includes an official shooting his weapon. Head prosecutor Jeannine Pacioni said that her office won’t give any extra subtleties until the examination has closed.
Craig requested that occupants show their help to the city’s cops.
“They are harming, and they need to realize our local area upholds them,” she said.

Gavin Newsom in an explanation gave Sunday: “Our considerations and most unfathomable feelings are with Officer Jorge Alvarado’s family, companions, associates, and the local area of Salinas as they grieve his misfortune in a silly demonstration of savagery. Official Alvarado passed on a legend and his sacrificial penance while safeguarding the local area he served will continuously be recalled.”
