Popular Singer and songwriter Jeff Carson, who scored hits with “Not On Your Love,” and “The Car” before becoming a police officer, has died in Tennessee. Carson was only 58.

Carson was conceived Jeffrey Lee Herndon in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1963, Westby said in a news discharge. Carson sang in the chapel and shaped a band in Rogers, Arkansas, prior to moving to Branson, Missouri, where he composed tunes and played locally, the news discharge said.
